I think a switch to plastic spurs is needed- even with a non-hardend steel spur it will still eat pinions pretty quickly, especially ones that arent hardend ( well ) either; got to bear in mind that the pinion spins twice roughly for everytime the spur spins once, so the pinions will wear out alot quicker. A locked down slipper should help prevent too much spur-melting slippage.
