Hi tally, welcome to the forum,

Like Coolhand says, a 120A controller is not needed for the XL2000, if you've got 300 to spend on a motor, i would check out the LMT 19 series. or get a wanderer XL and you've got some money left to step up to lipo. It really is surprising what lightweight does. the watt/oz value gets better.

and lesson 1 in brushless is that the power that the setup can deliver can never be higher than the power the batteries can handle.
