When "550" motors are being dissed,is that just the ones made by Traxxas?(Or,is it the size in general?) Can 540 motors be used? (singly or in pairs ? )

a 550 is a 550
a 550 is better than a 540 .
as a 550 has a cooling fan and a longer armature that will give you more torque and the fan will help on cooling
i have used a 540 in this maxx but it gets Hot
FAST! when its offroad and its with out the torque that the 550 offers .
a 12t is a high RPM HIGH amperage motor
a 19t would be good for speed power and current draw is lower
and a 21t is even more power less rpm and uses even less current draw.
i just used a Brushed 550 as it will Better handle water mud and other things in the long run......
plus for bashing and mud and water to replace a 550 motor is only$14 vs your brushless @ $60 to $200.
