Hello ABP,

I recently received a CC 1717 motor which happened to be the "air" version which also had a 6mm shaft. Well, since I have a few others I decided to have at the shaft myself. I took the motor apart and put the rotor in a cordless drill. Then I used a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel.

Technique is probably key here, but I held the cordless drill steady in my lap (facing outwards of course!) and while spinning the rotor, I used the cutoff wheel as if I were trying to cut the shaft down the center line, moving it back and forth as far down as I wanted to remove material. I had a 5mm pinion handy to check for tolerances as I went along.

The whole process took me about 20 minutes. Once I removed enough material (evenly too, I might add), I polished everything smooth with a polishing wheel on the dremel tool (rotor still in the cordless drill) and finally put a larger flat on the shaft to finish things off. Hope this helps!
