Nothing wrong with laminate. I am using the stuff that came out of my new house in my rc workshop and it is taking a beating and still looking good. I have used the knife on it, and had the soldering iron on and nothing is really happening. I like it, plus it cleans very easy. I keep a soft bristle counter brush handy, and a spray bottle of cleaner too.
