Honestly, best thing is to go to a couple of local bike shops and ask questions, test ride, more questions, and don't do the parking lot test ride, whats that good for? A good bike shop will let you take it off curbs and in the dirt, try the suspension and adjustments, i come from a DH background so im used to 6"+ FS bikes, plush and such, Pink bike and mtbr are good sites.
