Like many others I have had good luck running the MMP in a 1/8 buggy, but for a 1/8 truggy I think the MMM or Tekin RX8 is a better (read: safer) choice. The MMM will be able to handle more power and has a more robust BEC to handle amp-hungry high torque servos.
The XP1015 could probably work, but many people (including myself) use 300+ oz-in servos for truggies, and the 1015 is only about 200 oz-in.
To me the setup you describe is ideal for a buggy, but not enough for a truggy.
