I know alot of people have had issues with the Traxxas diff gears. In my experience, if shimmed properly and in aluminum housings they hold up better than you think. I've blown 3 sets of Traxxas gears over the years, 1 due to bearing failure. 1 was never checked or maintained after initial setup and ate itself in it's 3rd season. The other was a well used truck to begin with and lasted only a few runs before it started complaining.

The FLM hybrids are a really good option though, i like mine alot. I'd run some numbers through the gear calc though before settling on the truggy gears. Truggy gears with a trans makes for a really low gear ratio, perfect if you want to run some really big tires though. Btw, with a Emaxx motor plate on the trans, a 65t spur (68t stock) needs a pinion 19t or greater pinion to mesh properly as a castle motor hits the trans housing with anything smaller.
