All you did was set it to car mode. If you want it to take off faster, you will need to adjust the acceleration. Instead of turning the controller off, do this:
-full throttle (unless you want to adjust the strength of the brakes)
-hit reverse 1-8 times (and let it do its succession of 1 beep, then dual beeps after each time you hit reverse), with 1 giving the fastest acceleration, 8 giving the slowest, with 4 giving you the same acceleration you have now. If you want the fastest acceleration, only hit reverse once.
-Hit full throttle to accept this setting.
You can turn it off now.
