The ss5800 is a smooth system. I have had one for a while and I actually like it a lot. It isn't the powerhouse that some of the other systems are, but it is smooth. On 7 cells, it will be plenty powerful. the u-force/plett combos are extremely nice and smooth as well, but cost 3 times as much. the MGM controllers with a lehner basic motor is proving itself to be one of my favorite setup for the smaller trucks (1/10 scale). The controller is very smooth.
I am still waiting for the work from BK on your controller. I told you about the second one, but I am thinking it may be a programming parameter or something. Easter in Germany is a big holiday, so the controller sat in customs for a few days. They have it in their possession now and I would expect to know something at the beginning of the week (Monday/Tuesday). If I don't have the answer, I will wire up the 18150, attach a heat sink/clamp and send it your way (along with your soldering iron).
