I run a lehner 5300 and 9918 in my bandit. The 9918 is a little overkill but I may put it in other vehicles. It is a really nice setup.

The lehner 4200 or 5300 work work nice with a MGM 80 controller I am sure. The 4200 would run cooler in a rustler though. I own 2 of those motors also and it worked great in my stampede.

I am not sure about the 6s or 8s for a rusty because I don't own any of those motors yet. I would say you are right about the 8s being a better choice though.
