One of the more popular ways of making a motor mount is using 1/4" thick aluminum angle, and cutting/drilling the motor holes on one leg and the mounting holes on the other. What I do instead is make an integrated motor mount and bearing carrier for the center diff. This setup weighs a lot less and is less likely to allow gears to strip, but it does require more work.
