defiantly Mamba maxx i did not read that part of your post i just saw mamba and immediately thought of the mamba 35 controller if it will work mamba maxx should be better because it will work in any car and it goes up to 12 cells but it might be to much for a 1/18(not sure though). I am not also sure of a price on the mamba maxx but if your were planning on paying over 100 you misewell go with the mamba 8000 and quark 33a motor. I am saying this (only if mamba maxx is close to 100) because you get the best micro controller on the market(pretty much) and the best motor (besides c4-to fast-) for about the same price as one controller. Now i know if you did this it would not be inner changeable between cars but with this setup people have reached well over 40 with 6c stick packs and 70+ with lipo. Its your choice if you can get the mamba around like 75 bucks or so and It will work with the mamba 8000 go for it. But if your paying 120 bucks for the mamba maxx and you still need to buy the 60 mamba 8k motor you decide but in this case you pretty much pay about 50 bucks more to be able to switch controllers. You Decide Just my opinions. Did you check out the website, it got some great deals.
