6 is the max you will want to charge them at. Thats what most manufactures recommend.
As for the peak. Set it as low as you can and still get a full charge. It may take a little experimenting to figure out what your charger is capable of. Some are more sensitive to false peaks than others. But start with a lower setting and if you don't get a full charge just start the charge again to finish it and the next time use a setting a little higher until you find the lowest setting that get you a complete charge. Every charger is a little different. Using a higher setting than is required just overheats the batteries more than necessary.
I have 3 different chargers and they all require a different setting when peak charging to get good results.
