Lehner 1920...worth the money? - 01.30.2007, 11:58 AM

Hey I'm a poet and didn't know it (oops I did it again).

Anyway, I've been running a Mamba max 4600 system in my HPI MT2. I have been thinking about getting a Lehner 1920 to run with the Mamba ESC. Using BrianG's calculator as well as the calculator on lehners web site, I come up with the 1920-7 being the motor to get. Truck is a little over 5 pounds geared as low as easily available gears will go; 52 spur, 12 pinion. I run Apogee 3s 3800 limn batteries.

I know most people say to stay under 40,000 rpm, my 4600 does around 50,000 and a 1920-7 would be a bit under that. I really like the speed of the truck as it is and may want a little more speed in the future (I also have 5700 motor). Should I go for a bit lower kv 1920 motor and try to gear it up to get the speed back (and more)? Or would a higher kv Lehner do better? Looking at the Lehner website, they say the rpm limit is 85,000 rpm.

Also, would I see longer run times with a comparable 1920 compared to the Mamba motors?

Will I notice any difference with the Lehner over a Mamba motor, or should I just keep running the Mambas and be happy? I do like the purple and black color to match the truck though, lol.
