Just set your cutoff to 3 - 3.1v per cell. I use a Novak Smart Stop on 2S wired to my BEC side pack on my HV-Maxx 4.5, and it cuts at 6.25V for 2 cells (its not adjustable). However, it seems to work very well. I get full power and then I get a few warnings (throttle blipping - almost unnoticable with so much power) and then it cuts off - all the while a led starts flashing.
On my 18T, I run 3S Lipo with the cutoff set at 9V. It also runs quite well. Toward the end of the run it will start cutting off under full throttle, and after another minute or two it will cut off completely.
I guess my point here is that you can use a lower voltage cutoff than like 6.5V for 2S.
