Thanks. I did have an LVC but took it out & installed a homemade 3S lipo scream (sirens sounds at 9V) but I guess that malfunctioned somehow. When I checked the voltage of the pack at home, it was 8.29V. This meant that while the truck was still running, it must been much lower than that. That's how it puffed. Pretty expensve mistake. Odd thing is the 2S pack somehow survived.

Time to get some cheaper lipo. The prices at maxamps seems pretty good. I can get a 5S 4K pack combo for the same money I paid for the puffed 3S 3.2k pack (bought more than 1 year ago). As a consolation, this 3S pack was in fact a salvaged pack. More than 6 months ago while I was running this pack, it suddenly lost all voltage. Turned out that one of the tabs in the middle cell had somehow disconnected from the PCB connecting the 3 cells together. Had the pack on the shelf for quite a few months before screwing up the courage to do some dissection & resolder the broken tab back to the pcb & adding hyperion balancing tabs to the pack. Hmm...I have a puffed 2S pack lying around somewhere, maybe I can still save this pack with a frankenstein style reanimation :013:
