Well, you can get a conservative system. Yes. With the right KV and volts with the gearing you use. A 10xl on 5s seems to be what you are looking for. You can get the 9xl on 4s if you gear it up, but your run time won't be that great as the amp draw will be more. Or even the 4s and 8xl would be good too, you will get low to mid 30's and your truck will be controllable.
The thing you don't want is like 5 or 6s on a 7xl, this will be a very hot system, and will be fast. Still controllable, but not dependable. Really, in an MT, it's hard to get the higher speeds, you need voltage for this. If I were you, get the 8xl on 4s, or 5s and 10xl...maybe even 9xl for more torque and top end....
