Yea...I think the stock nitro motor mount is quite important for chassis rigidity, as it also ties in the the rear bulkheads and such.
I've been pushing my friend to build on just like this now.
The two speed should also help increase runtime. First gear would be just like a low geared machine, so it wouldn't draw too much power, but second gear would still provide that high top speed. Also lets the motor run cooler too.
