Anyone put a Neu 1515f on old emaxx motor mount? - 02.29.2008, 03:20 PM

I just put my 1515f 1.5d on an original traxxas emaxx motor mount and I have very little range of motion to set the gear mesh. If you guys remember this mount.. it has one lower hole that is fixed (its not a slot like we have on most of our conversion motor mounts) and one upper hole that is slotted so you can vary the motor's distance from the spur. Once I lock in the lower hole, I can probably move one or two millimeters towards the spur before the can hits the tranny.

Luckily I have a gear that works, but it puts the theoretical speeds up higher than I would like - and in general I really don't like being able to play with gearing.

Anyone have experience with this or a suggested fix? I'm wondering if I should try and grind out the lower hole into a slot shape?

Or does anyone want to trade me a smooth can

I'm running a 1515/f in a maxx plate on my G2R with a 20 tooth Mod-1 pinionhas enough to go 1 or 2 teeth either way

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Short of grinding the offending fins off the motor (or just get the smooth can version) to allow more range, there's not much you can do IMO.

What's the pitch of the gears your using, and what tooth counts?
I used a 1515 f on the stock mount, but only with mod 1 gears.
I think the C50 hackers are a similar diameter, and lots have guys have used those at racing over the last 4 or 5 years, they just had to use the 72t 32p spurs.
Are you trying to get the motor closer to the transmission or further away? I don't think grinding the lower hole will let you go any closer, and if you trying to get further away, I'd adjust the top slot.
