Over age magnets start losing power, windings become inneficiant, bearings become un-smooth. I suggest that you replace the whole motor every few years, depending on how much abuse is given to it. You don't really have to replace all the parts at different times, it should be fine.

The magnets only lose anything even close to a significant amount of strength if they are allowed to get hot. As long as temps are kept under 180deg., magnet fade isn't a problem. Bearings do wear down, and their life can be prolonged if they are cleaned/oiled occasionally. Eventually they need to be replaced. The HV-Maxx has removable endbells, so the bearings can be easily replaced. But it might be a good idea to open the motor occasionally just to get out any dirt that might have gotten into it (like happens with the SS5800 motor).
