Trinity Now 'Super' Truggy - 06.28.2008, 01:40 AM

I have been bashing the Now for a couple of weeks and am liking it so far. Here are some pictures (read further below for a mini review – I didn’t intend to make one but it seems there’s not much info about it).

The truggy isn't, IMHO, as fragile as people have complained about. Sure the metals in it are soft, but it does make it easy to bend it back; like the shock towers for example.

The diffs are quite noisy, but they haven't given me any problems. I’ve heard others had to replace them and/or the spur gear because of the brushless power, but they probably haven’t updated the ESC’s firmware or loosen the slipper.

Before I ran this thing, I updated the Mamba software to the latest version (currently 1.17 up from 1.06) and set the Punch Control at 50% and left the Start Power at Low. This setting makes it easier on the drive train and provides smoother acceleration.

Aside from the nice brushless system, it also has a decent servo saver (unlike the RC18t), threaded shocks (albeit plastic bodied), stabilizers, and steel turn buckles. It handles nicely with a bit of over steer.

Other than the Tamiya plugs and the uber ugly body, I probably won’t be replacing any of the parts until they break. Overall, the Now is a nice RTR package, but if you were to get one, I recommend to also buy the Castle Link adaptor/cable for greater tuning.
