What is right for me? Lipoly or IB3800? ~Which Motor? 7xl/8xl/9xl? EVO pics inside :) - 11.10.2005, 10:06 PM

I have sold all of my rc vehicles except my brushless revo project (well still have a novak ss5800 powered stampede might keep as I cant get much for it used)

I will be running a 9920 with either a 7xl/8xl/9xl and not sure on the cell count as of now (I know if I run nimh ib3800 it will probably be 7 cell packs, so 14 cells total)

I have posted before asking about which motor to run, and I was given good info, but I still cannot decide on which motor to get! I want torque, and I want run time. I have heard good things about all 3 of the xl motors im looking into (7xl/8xl/9xl) I am sort-of leaning toward the 7xl just because it has its peak power/efficency with less cells right? therefore if im only running 14 nimh then I wont be taxing it too badly.

I suspect my e-revo to weigh in around 9.5 pounds completed (batt setup obviously will change that number either way) and I will mostly be running larger offroad tires (favorites are the proline 40 series mashers) running mostly offroad but also on the track occasionally. If I go the ib3800 route, I will probably be getting 4 7 cell packs, so I will only be able to switch batteries out once while bashing (biggest reason runtime is VERY crucial!)

on maxamps I can get my 4 7 cell packs built to my specs with deans for about 175 shipped. I have heard awesome things about the ib3800s capacity (running up to 4500 MAH!)

how many lipos can I get (keep in mind I will need a new charger...but would be able to sell my two duratrax intellipeak digital chargers) that would be basically the equivalent voltage/runtime? (so 16.8 volts approx, with approx 4500mah?) how many could I get, and what chargers are available for decent prices?

Here is a pic of the project thus far - should have more in the revo forum soon hopefully. Still need the 9920/ and whichever motor I choose, and already have a 94138 airtronics servo on the way. Since I cant seem to find kyosho twin force battery cups ANYWHERE I think I will just make some out of aluminum angle.

Sorry my camera sucks so bad... I decided to run a cvd to the rear only, because that way I can still get the tranny out without having to unbolt the front/rear ends. I also modded a 3racing revo tranny cover to fit over the E-tranny. I made 4 new recesses so the 4 center screws go straight down to the chassis to hold the tranny in, the other 4 (outer 4) hold the cover down (but also screw into the tranny to futher secure it).

Thanks in advance for any comments/info!

** P.S. ** If anyone knows where to locate some Twin Force battery cups LET ME KNOW!!!

for about 75 bucks...sure I will! I bought my tranny from a guy ive known online for quite some time (has UE idlers in it). The cheapest I could find one on ebay about a month back was about 55-60 bucks for a stocker.

Just a note, if you cant find a good one on the forums (be it new or used) a good bet is to build one NEW! I built one for my friend (other guy doing an evo conversion) and it only came out to be just over 50 bucks for all new parts. I did have my own bearings laying around though.

*edit*

I have been on the forum longer than you have, maybe I should welcome you! ;) heh, I have been on here awhile, just do more reading than I do posting.

I used maxx long driveshafts that I cut down (hopefully they will hold... didnt feel like doing more dremel work to make a revo shaft work)

I listed what the cost of the ib 3800's are (about 175 shipped) and I can charge them on my two intellipeak digital chargers. If i go lipo I would have to sell those, so would have approx 250 to spend. Out of that 250 I would have to get enough batts to have approx 4500 mah, about the same voltage as the 14 cells, and a charger (dont know if it can be done or not).
