Brushless suggestion for Hellfire - 12.25.2005, 05:17 PM

I know it's not even out yet but I'm putting a Hellfire on layaway. The listed weight is 9.2 lbs factory. Now what I'm thinking is 12-16 cells, possibly more depending on the speed I get. I'm currently thinkiing a Lehner Basic xl 2400, 1940 XL 8 turn and Wanderer XL 7 or 8 turn. For a controller, I'm not sure what kind of amp rating I'll need for it so any suggestions there would be appreciated.

I would say a 7XL on the 12-16 cells in the Hellfire would be great. I was actually looking to do this conversion myself, but I don't have a racetrack near me :( As for the controller, you could go with a 9920.

A basic XL is too small for that car, you need a bit more torque and a lower KV, because of the limited gearing options you've got. a 8 or 9XL would be my choice, or perhaps an L series..

Well, a 7XL will be faster than an 8XL and wont have too much of a runtime diference. If you are going to be running 12 cells sometimes, then sometimes 14, 16 cells, I'd say go with the 7XL, as the 8XL might dissapoint you a bit on 12. However, if you are set on running 16 the whole time, I'd say go with the 8XL. As for the 9XL, I'd only recommend it on 16 cells if you were looking for extra long runtime, but it won't be too much slower than the 8XL on 16 cells.

Here is my truck on 12 16 and the new motor. It is a 9xl.
The 9xl is faster and has longer run time than the stock titans on 12 cells.

Peace!
