Spektrum DX3S and Lipo? - 08.11.2009, 05:13 PM

Hey guys, i recently picked up a Spektrum DX3S, I like it for the fact that it only takes 4 AA batteries. My question is this. I can not seem to find a Transmitter Battery for this model. am i overlooking something? Are there LIPO alternatives? I would much rather use a Lipo pack. Could i just use a NIMH reciever pack? Still would like to use a Lipo, just dont know if 7.4V would work in this transmitter. Thanks

Theres ben a couple threads about making lipo work in this particular TX and there are some posts with ready made packs in the same thread.
Use the search.

The biggest issue with the DX3r/s is that it takes 4 cells (6v). There is no lipo equivalent without using some type of regulator, and then you have to worry about your actual lipo voltage (since the tx will display the regulated voltage, not the actual).

Yeah, that would work. I modded the receiver tray in my DX3r to use 5 NiMHs for the full 6v (actually a little higher when peaked). I created a thread about this a while back...
