try normal timing and hmm....20-40% punch. Work with medium and low start power.

Also, for 4s setup, the 6v is WAY WAY WAY to low. try closer to 12-13

Raise your punch control to 50%, It'll be a little slower out of the hole but help temps. What size tires ?

Ok, adjust your punch control and test. Bottom line you NEED A TEMP GUN. For all we know your temps may seem hot to touch but could be perfectly acceptable ?

You don't have to bust my chops, I'm trying to help. I'm just making sure that It's the motor we're talking about.

The XL motor is going to run warmer than say a NEU because it's not near as efficient as a better qaulity motor.
Put a heatsink on it and go w/it.

Any reason you are using the older firmware? They newest version will have bug fixes, including some that may allow the motor to run more efficiently, therefore cooler.

Don't you mean 1.22?

http://www.castlecreations.com/downloads/frh-mamba.html

I also have a question. In my erbe I'm geared 18/68 on 2x2s turnigy 5000(20c-30c). I think I'm undergeared, since the motor temp is 120-140f and the ESC fan comes on often. I then slow down and take the lid off and it stops. The case is always around 100f.

I don't want to gear higher, since my batteries aren't that strong. Using the calculator I'm at 31mph. Should I pump it up to 40mph? I don't do WOT for long, just for acceleration. I don't have castle link yet so I can only program through the tx. I'm at low timing, low start power, medium or low punch.

BTW, when I want to do wheelies, sometimes I can't. It looks like it has "turbo lag". I think that's the punch's fault and not the battery's? I'll try disabled punch and see how it goes.
