All kinds of gears even custom gears. -
09.03.2007, 11:27 PM
I don't know if this has ever been posted but I was having trouble finding certain pinions and I found this site:
http://www.sdp-si.com/
If they don't have what you need than you can have any gear made to your specs.
I have never used them but the BattleBots guys do.

I ordered two gears from them. I did not have them custom made, so i did not get 5mm bore, but very close, It can be drilled ot to 5mm. Gears seem to be made well, worked out to about 15 per gear with s/h.

I got 3 gears from them all 5mm. I got a 22, 24 and 30T aluminum ones. They are tough and the only thing I changed was the set screw. I drilled and tapped holes for 3mm set screws.

Cool! I think I found what I need. Thanks Edit: maybe not the shaft diameter is too big. What is acetayl? is it like delrin . Acetal with brass insert I wonder if it will hold up as a pinion. This is all I could find in stock. I need a mod 1 28 tooth pinion.

We use them a lot for little drive componets, then I found out where they get their pullies made so we use them now. SDPSI is great but expensive. We use a 15 tooth .080" pitch drive pulley and a 30 tooth for our conveyor. Boring the pulley to fit a 5mm shaft is easy, but make sure you use a drill bit that MEASURES .196",most are undersized or over sized, even metric drills are this way so watch out.

it's very expensive for shipping to Canada... UPS is the only method, and be ready to pay $20+ per $10 gear...

Unlike the old Gears, these have big set screws... and I'm glad I had chosen the 20mm face.. Very nice gears, and fits perfectly.. I will definately get some More.. Ordered it on Monday, got it today in the mail. no customs charges.. 1st class mail... SWEET!!!!

I have ordered many things from Sdp-Si. Nothing custom yet, but I love the quality of their stuff so I'll use them when I need something custom.

that must be some super lean beef then... The shipping option for USPS is great, before UPS use to charge insane brokerage fees.... I mean, brokerage cost more than the product..
