10Xl / 9920 - 03.10.2006, 03:33 AM

Here is what I think I am going to go with:
10 XL
9920
ubec
running 14 cells (6s lipos soon)
(1)What else do I need (like connectors)?
(2)What gears should I run?

I have heard of some people using the gold connector plugs to connect their motors to the esc. But I think most of us just solder the two together. I am actually thinking of using the connectors when I swap out my dual 9L's for the 7XL's though. Just in case I swap again in the future.
As far as the gearing goes, I'll let someone else answer that one.

I think an 8xl or 9xl sounds more appropriate for that voltage, 3.5mm gold connectors, deans connectors, wire, lvc for lipos, charger/balancer for lipos; I would get strobe slipper and use the 51t mod 1 spur, I dont know what pinion would be appropriate. Hardened idler and cvds if you dont have them yet to hold the power.

If you get the wanderer motor it has the 5.5mm connector on it. You need the male part to hook up. I don't think mike has started selling these seperate. You do need some connectors for you batteries. Deans are a good choice for this. For gearing I would start at 20 51 for the 10xl. maybe a 18 51.

The 10xl is in stock and I"m anxious to get the truck going. Or should I wait for 8xl or 9xl?
How long is the wire on 9920? If I keep the 9920 where the evx was will I need extra wire to get to the motor? I shouldn't need any for the batteries, or do I?
Thanks in advance

For 6s lipo, the 10XL will be the best option. I'm not 100% sure that the wires on the 9920 will stretch that far. If not, you can always mount the controller elsewhere.

ok, the 10xl will be a great choice and is very nice on 12 cells just not with blistering speeds. 14 should be very nice as 16 was wicked fast. start with 20/51 (strongly recommend the strobe slipper since the pinions are cheap and you will want to go to the strobe eventually) gearing and on 6s lipo i would go down to a 18. idlers and cvds are a must.

18tooth or 20 tooth with 5 mm shaft mod 1.

Well I placed my order ordered, the strobe slipper's out of stock. Does anyone know how long until there back in? For now what 32 pitch gear can I safely run just to get it going?
How about the robinson slipper , there's one on ebay for $25. Would it be worth it or should I wait for the strobe?
Thanks

I would imagine it will be fine for sometime on 14 cells, mines handles 16 on a 7xl fine for now.

Just keep the gear mesh tight and the slipper as tight as you can and the stock setup will hold up. I am working on getting Strobe to make some more slippers, but I don't have an ETA as of yet. :(
