New to me Redcat XBE - 01.02.2012, 05:39 PM

My G2R is sold and Savage is hopefully gone soon so i was looking for a replacement basher to play around with.

The brushless baja is fun but my son likes to drive that and the 2wd can be a bit of a handful.

I saw an almost brand new XBE on RCuniverse from a local guy. After a chat he was interested in a trade for a scaler I had so a few hours later I now have an almost new XBE!

It is setup with:

- Stock ESC
- Castle 1717 (stock motor included)
- 7075RC Aluminum knuckles

Checking the thing over quickly i understand why it was never run - All of the batteries (4 x 3s included) and ESC/Motor bullet connections were dry. Whomever did the soldering didn't tin a single wire before connecting the bullets! All fixed now...

It came with spare aluminum towers which I've already installed - I've already ordered a Hitec 5755 (stock servos just never seem to cut it) and added a Castle BEC (keeps the load off of ESC and the servo will take 7.4v)...

Debating about which ESC to use - keep running this or drop in a MMM or use an MMMXL in due course when I get it back from upgrade.

I also have a spare 2028 but not sure if there is room or if it could handle that much torque.

Anyone had one of these and know what else I should do/need?

PICS
