BL setup for a heavy truck?

I've got an E-Maxx that is fairly decked out with RPM parts and other goodies. One of the downfalls is weight. In running form (6 cell batts, EVX, motors, etc) it weighs 13.5 lbs. I know that BL systems can be sensitive to weight.

This is primarily a bashing vehicle, but it does see track time (not to be confused with race time). I need something that has plenty of power, yet little cogging.

Also, I have upgraded to a GorillaMaxx single speed transmission. I've already done up the drivetrain including lightweight tranny gears and CVD's all the way around.

So what's going to be a good system for me?

how much money do you want to spend, how many cells?

Whoops, left that out, didn't I.

I'm looking to spend around $400 for the entire system, but that's open to a little bit of negotiation. I plan on running 12 to 14 cells. My current set up is 12, but I'd like to leave 14 open as an option.

An XL motor is certainly a must, but if you want the best, an LMT 19 series motor is certainly the best. Pricey, but the best. If you want cogg free, the Quark 125 is right up your alley. That is 280+90 for a Feigao C XL still leaves money for a UBEC. I would recommend a higher cell count for a already heavy truck. Something like 16 cells.

What batteries have you got, that you are planning on using?

The power of the setup depends on the quality of the cells.

Right now I'm running dual matched (to each other I mean) GP 3300's. I have battery straps on the truck, so I can run 7 or 8 cell hump packs no problem.

Ultimate Battery Elimator Circuit. It is required if your running more than 12 cells. All it does is take the full voltage of your packs in and simply reduce it to 6 volts for the servos. Basically it just eliminates the need for the controller to regulate the voltage for the servos.

Well, here's one for you now. I started having doubts about it weighing 13.5lbs. When I weighed it again, sure enough my memory was wrong.

The truck only weighs 11lbs. Does this change the suggestions any?

Didn't think so, afterall it's only a 2.5lb difference. Looks like the Quark will be the way to go. I need to decide on a motor though.

You guys mentioned Feigao 540C. What is the difference between 7XL, 8XL, and 9XL. I assume it's the turns? Pros and cons? Sorry for the basic question, my last and only previous BL system was a Novak SS5800 system.

Yes, a 7XL is hotter than a 8XL. 8XL is hotter than a 9XL, etc. It just depends on how many cells your gonna run. To figure that out, multiply the total voltage times the KV of the motor. Thats your RPM's. Try to keep them around 35 to 40K.
