brushless setup for xxxt II rtr??? - 05.30.2005, 03:54 AM

I have just bought a losi xxxt II rtr and want to convert to brushless as less maintenance and a bit more speed (40-50kph) and runtime (9-12min). Here is my plan and setup.

I was thinking of running 6-7 cells of GP 3300 or 3700 not sure yet?? suggestions would be good. I have 3s2p 2000Mah lipo (Kokam 15c) from my RC plane that I can use - would that be enough?

I have done some research and was thinking of the novak super sport 5800?? - it is cheap and easy setup, however worried about glitching (have JR XR2i)

OR

MGM compro (not sure of amp level), but not sure of motor or gearing that would be suitable.

What would be a good bashing setup that fits the bill and is reasonably priced (AUD by the way)

I don't think the novak 5800 can handle lipo batteries, especially not 11.1v of them....

mgm, or warrior would be a better controller...

For 11.1 volts, I would stick with about a 3600 basic motor. This will give you a nice runtime and plenty of zip. Also, on your LiPo packs, you said the packs were 3s2p. The Kokam 2000mah Lipos that I am familiar with are actually 3s(not 2p). Do you have two packs(3s2p-4000mah)?

yeah sorry about the confusion mike, it is two 3s packs of 2000mah in parallel so it would 4000 as you said.

what would be the current draw on that motor??? and tips for 6-7 cell nimh 3300/ 3700?

the basic 3600 would be real easy on the current draw. you could get quite a nice runtime with 4000mah of Lipo power. I run the basic 4200 on the same battery setup (3s2p kokam) and can get 15 minutes runtime with no trouble. For 6-7 cells, I like the 4200 or 5300 motors.
