Difference between 2 Neu motors. - 04.21.2007, 07:39 PM

What would be the difference between a ...

Neu 1512 2d/F (2600Kv) vs. Neu 1512 2.5d/f (2000Kv)

This would be in a Revo.

power feel?
Would the runtimes be much different?
etc...

I want the 1512 2.5d/f but its not in stock and am looking for another option. Trying to stay away from the 1515 series I heard they have more power consumption, and I would like a good balance or runtimes vs. power.

I see that this is kind of an old post, but I'll try to answer it anyway.

I'm assuming that you are going with 4S lipo or an equivalent. I know that there are some running the 2600kv motor in trucks and like them fine, but personally, I like the 2000kv motor better. First, it will likely draw less current and will be easier on the batteries. You'll make able to make up for most of the speed difference with gearing.

Generally speaking, I like the stay in the 30,000 rpm range for a truck. Trucks need the torque. The 2000kv will also run cooler. All of this is just personal opinion.

I agree with AAngel totally. Some of what kv motor you pick depends on your gearing. If you have a vehicle with a lot of gear reduction, you can use a higher kv. If using a vehicle with low gear ratio (buggies/truggies) then a lower kv motor is best. In my 1/8 scale buggy, which is relatively heavy, I have the 1512 2d (2600kv) on 4s and it does surprisingly well on 4s and 46T/16T gearing. Wayy too fast for the track though...

I also agree. A lower kv motor will also give you better run time.
