If the total pack mAh and C are the same, it shouldn't matter. 2p @ 1Ah is the same as 1p @ 2Ah.
However, if the 1p pack is made of one 1Ah cell, and the 2p is made of up two 1Ah cells, the 2p pack will perform better.
So the performance would be the ah of the cells. For example: if the 1p is 1ah, but the 2p is 2ah, obviously the 2p would perform better. But if they are the same ie: 1ah cells, then performance is basically the same. Correct?

If the total capacity is the same e.g a 2s2p 2000 mah pack (1000 mah cells) vs. a 2000 mah 2s1p pack, it is better to use the 2s1p pack because bigger cells tend to perform better at high C ratings than smaller cells. Also the chance of getting a bad cell is reduced by 50%.

I started a thread on this a little while ago, lots of good information was posted. Check it out here.
Another one about battery setups is here.
Just some info to look at, interesting stuff, enjoy
