Anyone getting a RS Pro? - 04.27.2008, 10:04 PM

I've been hoping for a 3s capable sensored controller for a long time. It's here! It's tiny too! Anyone else gonna get one?

tower has them listed but no info and the picture is wrong. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...EARCH=tekin+rs I believe the rs pro should have the same specs as the r1 pro but sensored.

If its as good as the R1Pro it should be very nice. I'm loving the R1Pro on 5s in my XB8. Its performing fabulously.

Jeff, are you using a cooling fan on your R1Pro?

I'm about to get mine, soon with some power caps.

I wasnt running one for a long time and it was doing fine temp wise, but its still cool here. With my setup of 5s, 10XL Hacker, low timing and a just ever so slight current limiter setting of 85 and geared for 40mph I was getting 3 lights out of 7 on the interenal temp monitor. I added a fan this week cuz I figured that it will probably need one once it starts to get hotter outside and this now week I was only getting 2 lights of 7 on the internal temp monitor. Keep in mind I am running a fairly conservative setup knowing that its a small esc with no heatsink, but I gotta say. It handles every bit that my MM can handle (if not more).

Great to hear.

The only thing that's worrying me now is if I'm going to use a four pole motor ( I've already have the Neu). The motor I have is the 1512/1d/s motor( 4875 rpm) which I'm going to use on my MRX-4X along side the R1Pro and 4s2p FP 2170mah. Gearing will be 46:20.

I think it'll surely need a fan in this case. The Neu will not go easy on the controller, and I think the esc will not live long enough with such a setup.

1512 1d on 4s 2170 mah? I think you seriously need to reconsider you setup or else something may blow up. The motor is really a 3s motor since its not a good idea to run it past its rpm limit, and there is no way the 2000 mah batteries will support the required current unless they are rated for 60c continuous.

Well, I'm using four in series and two in parallel in order to double up the current and capacity as well. The motor will go over 80k rpm easily, but I'm only doing it for speedruns and fun. What is worrying me is whether the controller needs a fan with such a setup or not and if it's gonna handle it well.

The Neu shouldnt be a problem. I ran a Neu 1512/2.5D on mine for a short time. No issues. Of course I didn't spin mine that fast.

I'm with you speedy. Thats a hell of a current that setup is gonna pull.

I think you will not only need a fan, but probably a fire extinguisher as well. Not sure the R1 is gonna handle that very well. Possibly thoug if you are just doing it for short bursts and not trying to run like that for more than a few seconds at a time. Sounds to me like you need a MMM for that. Or a big MGM 22416.

Yep, it seems that way.

I might just throw the R1 into my CRT.5 and get a MMM for the MRX-4, but the size of the esc is just too monsterous to contain.

I ordered one from Tower for over a month now and not sure when I will get one.

Once I will have it my hands I will make 12L sensored combo for testing. You can get them with 5mm shaft...

That sounds like a great setup! How many other L & XL motors are there (aside from the Feigaos) in a sensored configuration?
