So, both of my Hyperion chargers (0610i DUO and 1210i) have an Automatic NiMH mode. I'm guessing they just use the packs' resistance to determine the charge rate. Is that right?
I just assembled some sxs 7 cell GP3300 packs from RShack (Green and gold -real GP, not the new crappy replacement cells) and the auto-NiMH mode eventually charges them at up to 8.4A! As I've typically always charged at 1C, this seems a tad frightening to me.
Can I just trust the charger to know that it's okay to charge them at about 2.5C since they're new cells? The older GP3300 packs I have end up charging at a max of 4.5A, which seems significantly more reasonable.
If all else fails, I don't care too much because I mostly run 5s a123 in there anyway. The NiMHs are there for water running purposes.
Anyway. Thoughts? What's the max rate you'd charge new GP3300 cells?
