What to do for a savage motor mount? -
04.01.2008, 10:36 PM
So I just acquired a stock savage, non x model. What should I do for a motor mount? I can make one, from some thick al angle. Kershaw make a mount, but 35 bucks seems like a bit much.
I already have a savage xss with the flm tranny forward chassis. I would just use the stock one I just got as a basher.
I have a spare 14xl, 9s worth of 2500 lipos, and a great planes 60hv esc. Going to keep the 2 speed and stock mech brakes. Mainly going to do this on the cheap, but I do not mind making a mount and battery trays.
What do you guys think?

I think you have too many cars seriously. I'd make it like the kershaw mount if you can. Why aren't you going to bash the FLM savage?

I do not really have any shelf queens, so I think the flm savvy and the racebomb will be driveable displays. I like having some nice stuff to look at, check out the chics I hang with!
I like the way the flm motor mount works, not sure if I can fit something like that in between the tvps. I have to pull the motor and have a look.
Does anyone else make a motor mount?

HAHA
How the hell did you get hold of my wedding pics? Damn that dress makes me look fat!
I just ordered the kershaw mount, figured it would save me some time. I will still make my own battery holders, most likely a drop in from the top design so that the batts have some protection from side impacts.
Now, all I have to do is strip the truck down, clean everything and fix whatever I find!

Started tearing it apart, cleaned most of it, and should have it all back together tomorrow. Nitro motor, tank and other related parts are on ebay!
So far it looks like a good deal. The front diff is fine, only had to buy a pair of driveshafts and a 47t plastic spur. It is missing a few screws, but everything else looks fine. I am thinking of upgrading to a double disk brake setup, is there a hpi kit, or do I have to buy the parts seperately?

That's the dual disc setup. I like these a lot but I am grinding down the rotors fairly quickly. Stuff gets stuck between them and the FLM bash plate.

Found this on tower:

Do I need a twin disk brake to slow this beast? I plan on using a 3050 mg futaba servo for brakes, so power will not be an issue. This will not be a super heavy truck, but will weigh more than a stock savage.

I find that kit is the most reliable as far as braking performance.
