track tested my truggy and brushless slash - 06.28.2008, 11:36 PM

Well i tested out the truggy today on the track, i was running as hard as possible because id rather know now if something is gonna get to hot or go out on me, highest temps i saw all day (ran 4 packs through it) were 178* on the 10xl, 153* on the Mod1 MM, and 108* on the flightpower 5s. i got about 23-25 minutes of solid track time before i hit the cutoff of 16.5 volts. Im gonna try gearing up a tooth on the pinion as i think i was staying to high in the rpms, this should lower the motor temps, and ill have a fan (just in case) on the mm before the big race next weekend but if i can find the sweet spot with my gearing i should have a much cooler motor and about the same on the mm.

btw does anyone else have a problem with over jumping the hell out of even the biggest and longest jumps on the track? i had to let off on the two biggest jumps (both of which the nitros never back out of gas on).

I also picked up my slash today, i ran a couple packs thru it bone stock at the track and then when i got home i had a box from Mike with exactly what i needed, so the slash is setup like i had talked about in a previous thread with, 3s, mm, 9L, ccbec, mod1 gears, and the rc-monster heatsink clamp (which was a VERY tight fit), its geared for bout 45 mph. i made two spacers to go under the back of the battery hold down piece to lift it up for the 3s crapamps pack, and the bec is hiding under the mm and mount. cant wait to run this baby tomorrow.

also is a picture of badlands mounted on the slash only problem is youd need alot of body trimming or raise the body mount up a 1/2 inch

Looks cool. Let us know how it does. I didn't realize they (the slash) were that wide until I saw one in the LHS the other day. I had something smaller pictured in my mind.

Slash is geared for 45mph, sweet, do you know if it was hitting that speed?
I have the same problem with jumps, nitro's barely make the jump and I go flying off the track, lol

Far out, the chassis on the slash is really wide, could fit alot on there. What are those black things on the side of the chassis for? Keeping the body outwards?

yea they hold the body out so you can really bang into each other when racing, they even have velcro on them and the body has matching strips to further keep in place and keep you from getting tanlged up, i havent driven the slash anywhere but my porch, and its raining right now but im sure itll have no problems hitting 45mph, its lighter than my LS10 and it pulled 45mph without breaking a sweat with the exact same setup.

You won't have velcro there very long. The velcro is stronger than the adhesive on the back of it. Mine was gone after running in the dirt and removing the body a couple of times.

finally quit raining today and the dried up enough to run the slash some and WOW rolling 30mph wheelies are a piece of cake, i found it set alot better and didnt squat as much if you run 5/8" of preload collars on the rear and 3/16" preload collars in the front.

watching this scale looking truck do wheelies is just awesome, it jumps pretty good (nothing over 20 feet long and 4 feet high) so far but later in the week ill take it over to the big jumps.

i come back inside to trim just a tad more off the body i could hear it rubbing the rea tires when taking a sweeper under alot of throttle and i dont wanna tear the tires up like someone else already did. I also bumped up to a 13 tooth pinion instead of the 12 as my motor was running a little warm due too me not being able to control from going WOT all the time.

ill see if i can get a video here in a little bit.
