NEW Kontronik motors and controllers

Kontronik has now published new motors and controllers.

The "KIRA" motors have got a built in fan and are availible in 400-650 size.





They are replacing the FUN motors. According to Kontronik, the motors can be taken up to 50000rpm without problems. The new Kira 650 with a weight of 330g and 1100kv, 1300kv, 1500kv and 1700kv should be really nice in a 1:8th car.



The "JIVE" controllers are available in a HV (50V) and a LV (25V) version. They are waterproof, have got proportional brakes and a built-in BEC that can take up to 15A peak, even on 12s Lipo.

There will be a 80LV, 100LV, 60HV and the Jive 80HV availible which is only 84g heavy (w. wires) and can take up to 4000W

The motors and controllers will be availible in march.

Those look nice. We'll have to see how much these things are going to sell for here in the US. They should be available from Tower though, so they should be easy for us to get a hold of.

Yeah, they look really nice. The German retail price for the Kira 650 motors is 229€, the retail price for the Jive 80 LV is 249€, the Jive 100 LV 299€, the Jive 60 HV 279€ and the retail price for the Jive 80 HV is 329€.

That is really good news for us. it looks as if several of the electronic manufacturers wants a piece of the action, which means more of a selection for us. Plus in their need to compete with each other their prices will have to be competitive in the long run. Maybe not at first, but things will go through changes over the next few months. Yiippeee for us.

sweet. It will be nice to have another option for controllers. I have heard good stuff about the current line of Jazz controllers, although I havn't tried one myself, yet.

They look like the same motors to me but with a different gearbox. Same specs too if i can recall.

The thing is that they seem to be light too! 330 g for a 650 sized motor. Not bad at all!

i think it's only a matter of time before their 63V is also available with proportional brakes.

I spoke with a guy of kontronik 1,5 year back in Germany, and he told me they had something going. This must have been it.

It's pretty cool just to be a part of the metaporphisis that is going on within the RC industry right now. It sucks to have to wait for things to come out when you already have an idea of what they are, but still the advances are similar to what the laptop industry has been going through for the last few years. It is exciting to know that things are changing for the better from our standpoint. Personally this waiting time is great for me, because I am paying off my Xmas purchases and begining to save for the MMM and whatever else comes out.

the jive looks good. if it really will have a prop brake thats nice. last week there was some information that it won't be the case. so lets hope this is the correct information now.

i don't like the open cans of the motors. seems not really 'offroad capable' imo.

I don't think that the open cans will be a problem, it's like an outrunner where all the small stones are pushed away.

in the sand, dirt and dust in real offroad this will most probably be a huge problem.



but hey each to his own. some drive in much 'cleaner' conditions. i would not try it.

There are some people who don't consider that offroad rhylsader, that looks more like mud-diving to me.

I personally can't enjoy driving my rc's around when it is soaking wet. it simple isn't my cup of tea.

yeah. as i said: to each his own. i see in a lot of forums etc many people driving with their monster trucks in 'special clean' conditions so to say. thats all fine with me. its all about fun. if somebody has fun with the monster trucks on pavement or nice flat tracks. so be it.

i drive my monsters like nitro monsters in just the same locations and conditions. sometimes its a bit wet but it is sure always dirty. just bashing.

so its like always a matter of preferences.
