What watts? -
11.04.2005, 06:45 PM
Somebody asked me the other day 'how many watts is that motor in your Maxx?'
'Sorry watt?, I haven't a clue, but It keeps whipping your Savage eh?' was the best answer I could come up with :o
Could someone please give this fella a more informed answer than that. thank you :)
Its a 7XL on 18 cells

1800 watts, on good cells. (every good cell can deliver about 100 watts)
It's not using this power constantly, otherwise your batteries would be empty in a few seconds.

so its more about the voltage than the motor its self?
sorry for the school boy questions. :)

Well a motor can only give out what you put into it give or take resistance and efficency. With a motor like the 7XL batteries are probably the limiting factor in power (voltage, and the amount of amps they can put out while sustaining a good voltage).

WATT=FORCE x VELOCITY, if there is no angle in its direction. WATT's standard units is N(x^2/s^3). Lol, ironically! we learned about it in physicas class today!

I thought a watt was voltage time amp draw.
That is why a battery can only supply about 100 watts. 100amps of draw and the voltage falls to 1 volt. That is why the bateries are the limiting factory. I learned this on rc monster forum. :p
Peace!

We just had our test today in AP physics on mechanical power (watts) and energy (joules). nbcaz, to simplify what watts is a measure of:
-Force x velocity (as you said)
-Energy / time - The amount of energy done over a period of time
-mass(kg) x distance(meter)^2 / time(sec.)^3

power is power. Amp x Volts = Force x Velocity = I^2 R = .... All the units cancel out. they're all equivalent. Electrical power and mechanical power.

Well power in is power out. IF you only put 9oo watts of electrical power in. How do you get 2200watts of power out?
Peace!

You don't. Power in x efficiency = power out. With 18 cells, max peak power is around 1800-2000 watts. Factoring in efficiency, cabking's max power is around 2 HP. However, the torque curve is totally different for electric vs. gas so it feels like a lot more than a 2 HP gas.
Cabking: just tell the dude it's 2000 watts.
