how to not kill an 18t servo??? - 10.05.2008, 05:28 AM

hey guys i just placed a pretty big order for my 18t so it should be pretty much 100% complete!!
but
i stripped my second 65mg servo yesterday and so i had to order replacement gears....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ayphotohosting

the big peice in the middle is the one i strip... what am i doing wrong here?

i only ran the truck 5-10 times and it died on me...

i will take a pic of the setup i have tomorow because maybe my servo horn or something is all out of wack?

if anyone has had any similiar problems id love to know how they fixed it!

thanks for any help

You stripped out a 65MG? I've been running a 65HB in mine for a while now without any issues. You are running the Hitec servo saver, right?
What setup are you running?

Have you checked your endpoints on your radio?

Endpoints control the throw of the servo in each direction. Oftentimes, that means the servo will go farther than the steering allows and bind, causing increased stress on servo and steering parts. This sounds like what is happening in your 18T. What kind of radio are you running?

PS, post pics.

Steering epa is the end point adjustment. D/R is not really the same thing. Just find the epa adjustment menu, and then turn one way, dial the number lower till the servo is not making noixe at the end of travel, then do it the other way. Basically sets the servo travel to match the mechanical steering travel. Should help the servo survive.

No prob, just read the entire radio manual. A good high end radio has tons of adjustments, and it is important (and fun) to know them all!

Ah, no servo saver. That could do it, along with too much servo throw.

The servo saver allows the wheels to turn without turning the servo - a way to prevent servo breakage on impacts. This is the one you should use:

And yes, it goes onto the servo output gear.
