Crazy Idea for Mike...? - 12.17.2008, 07:44 PM

Hey guys, here's one I just came up with today (during school, what better time to day dream??). I want ot pick up a roller HPI MT2 and convert it too electric. Use an MMM/2700kv combo, or it the truck is light enough, a Mamba Max and 5700kv motor. I will be running on 3s or 6s. I'd like to have a spillerential in the truck, with a front one-way with 6 more teeth than the rear standard diff. Any input is welcome!!

Slipperential.

The slipperential replaces the tranny with a centerdiff and slipper clutch-in-one, so you would still have to use the standard diffs front & rear- there is simply no way you could run different teeth counts in the front vs the rear, simply impossible. As for a 'front one way' (I assume you mean forwards only driveshaft that free wheels in reverse?), that would lead to very poor braking in a 4wd vehicle.

You might be able to retro-fit a center diff unit into the MT2 to replace the tranny, and use Mike's unit in place of the center diff itself, but thats about it.

As for you BL E-revo 4s or 6s question:

4s for a fast (~40mph) reliable system that will run pretty cool with plenty of grunt.
6s for insane speed and power that is only much use in a huge open space (speed runs or speed bashing).

Gearing up or down with either system will be the key to controllability and consistent, safe temps.

cool, thanks guys. Now i want a quote from mike showing what i'd need to convert this baby to electric, parts involved etc... do i get to do the prototype testing for free?? lol, thanks guys. Scratch the crazy driveline idea too, now im just gonna go with either a sidewinder, MM, or the novak/LRP i already have.

k, i just PM'ed him. I just took a peak at the CTR.5 section. How would these two trucks/conversion compare? I'm look to stay cheap...

Mike wont respond to PMs very often, as he spends most of his time in the shop, working, not on the forum, reading PMs (which would take up most of his time).

As for the MT2 vs crt.5 = read, learn, enjoy. You dont see many Mt2 conversions, nbut lots of people convert the .5, and Mike has lots of aftermarket part for the .5 too so that speaks volumes. If you want a cheap, smaller 4wd truck, then I'd say go to ebay and see what you can find, as prices vary alot depending on condition etc etc- depends what exactly you want to do with the vehicle when you have it; horses for courses and all that.

thans m8. seeing that the crt.5 is $50 less than the MT2 new, but y lhs may offer to keep the nitro stuff from the truck new an cut me a deal
