Best combo for a pede - 12.10.2005, 05:50 PM

what is the best combo for the pede?

i was looking at the warrior (max amp drawage = 120)
and the fiagio 8s

i've been told it's a good combo else where but was advised to post here.

i'll be running 8 cells as well

The 9920 is 99 amp continiuos Phil, sounds a nice combo, maybe you could look towards a wanderer.

Hello Phil. (Can't get away from me ey? :D) Welcome to the forum.

The Warrior 9920 only has a 99 max amp draw. Which would fit the 8s fine.

I'm not too sure with the small can motors and how many cells for each. So can't help you in that area.

Are you thinking of using a UBEC or a small power pack for reciever?

Welcome to the forum! :)

I believe he may have been thinking about the Warrior 12020, which is indeed 120 amps.

For a pede, a 9920 and a 8S is a very nice combo. no need for a 120A version.

To be honost, I would go with the 9920, the MGM80 is good, just prefer the flexibility of the 9920, if you ever wanted to use a different motor. Your also very safe with the Amps then.

Personally I'd much rather run a Mtroniks Pro, with the Feigao 8s, on 8 cells. Its a much nicer ESC than the warriors on low voltages, no UBEC device to worry about. And waterproof. Will easily handle the 8s, I ran a 6s on 8 cells with mine all summer with no problems.

(Only thing is you will have to go to another popular brushless shop to purchase one, I am not going to bias the info I provide because its not available via Mike, if he stocked it I would recommend purchasing from him straight up).

Yep, the new warriors work just fine on the low cell counts. updated software fixed the old problem of cogging on low cell counts.
I have considered the mtroniks line of controllers. :)

Have you ever driven one Mike? My shiny new ones feel smoother to drive than a U-Force..and the only warrior i've driven (a 7718) felt horrible in comparison.

UBEC is popular, however I got one and binned it straight away, had loads of inteference with it and problems.

Using a power pack seems to be loads better, although never tried a fully functioning UBEC.
