I saw that on New Year's eve and it was awesome. Robbie Maddison (bike rider) actually had his left hand bloodied up due to the impact from the handle bar when he jumped down.

By the way, this event was done at the same time Knievel jumped his bike over a man-made volcano in front of the Mirage hotel.

the stepup was cool but the stepdown was by far the sickest part he free fell for about 75 feet down before hitting the ramp and the very bottom................................

Absolutely. Getting up is just a matter of physics - the engineer gets the ramp designed/built right, and all you have to do is hit the correct speed, and your golden.
That going down though is very tricky. Just enough speed to keep the front wheel up...he got just a little too much as he was kinda long on it.
I'd like to know if he broke any of the shocks/mounts on the bike.
