Is the Flux ruining our fun? - 02.03.2009, 12:56 PM

With the Flux getting out and about amongst us all, I really wonder if it's worth all the effort in building a conversion anymore...

Whilst I realise that for the large part, we [here] tend to submerge ourselves in the engineering challenge of making effective and strong brushless conversions, I fancy that HPI have essentially rendered most Savage conversion products obsolete.

The Flux appears to be a masterstroke, it's strong, fast, tough and looks great. I will be getting one sometime soon (None around here locally yet) to run [stock] alongside my G3 & G3R trucks.

I had planned on a Savage XL project and in fact have a Kershaw direct drive assembly on its way as I write, but I now doubt whether I'll even take it out the wrapping........

I have seen the Flux and I personally like my bl XL better. My lipos are inside the frame well protected. The battery pods just dont look right to be hanging on the side. Convert your XL, its longer and bigger so it looks more impressive when you shoot it into the sky after hitting that 8ft high dirt hill.

Yep, I hear that. But again, look at the price.. The Flux seems like a lot of dough initially but really it isn't. How much for an XL project?
The XL itself, ESC/Motor combo, conversion equipment. That's well over a grand just there.

Nothing against savages, as I won 2 of them, but I really do not think that they are the best truck for high power brushless. I prefer the lst... Bigger and stronger, better shocks and diffs. I wonder how well the flux will hold up. Especially on 6s. I do want to see how good the tranny is, as I would like to use it in my flm tranny forward savvy.

What you are going to see is the same thing that happened with the Revo conversion world. Personally, I prefer my converted Revo over an E-Revo, but mostly just because I made most of the stuff on it, and I appreciate seeing converted rigs that were made with some amount of creativity, not just purchased, or purchased and thrown together with aftermarket parts. It like you can convert a Truggy or a Buggy in an hour if you buy the parts - just not the same....!
After the E-Revo came out, its resale value dropped considerably, which you will also see with your converted Savages. I think more parts will start becoming readily available also.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES
