Rc18t Help - 12.22.2005, 10:56 AM

I am in the process of upgrading my RC18T. I mainly bash with some friends and have not considered racing. I mainly run offroad and love to jump my RC18T. I am looking at putting a brushless system in my truck. I have looked at the Mamba 5400 or 6800 and the Tekin performance systems. Both seem really nice but I am "trying" to keep my cost down. I have seen cheaper brushless systems but there were for airplanes and from what I understand they would not be able to handle to surge of power and possibly fry the speed control. Anyone out there have any suggesstions? I plan on using GP110 6-8 cells. Not going lipo due to cost.

well i would go with the mamba. cost isnt that much and its a drop in system. if not, tower pro makes some motors that you can get pretty cheap and just get the mamba controller. another issue with the airplane controllers is something to do with the brakes. also, keep in mind that the lipo batteries arent to expensive and you can get a 30 dollar charger for the little lipo packs.

Where have you seen a $30 lipo charger? I was looking to get one that would do nicad, nimh, and lipo if possible. Could you recommend a lipo battery?

I just got a poly charger for $29 and a 7.4v 1320mAh Lipo battery for $39. From my LHS no less.

Just remember, combination chargers = expensive.
