pics. of my super stretch crt.5 chassis -
01.31.2009, 09:18 PM
Just a couple of pics. of the final set up. The chassis is 1 3/8" longer than Mike's v3 chassis. All I need to do is have the chassis milled out below the motor and steering servo by a friend of mine. As you can see, there is ample room for everything! I also have to dye the wheels black, just like my other crt.5 in my sig.
I am considering sending it to Mike to have him make me a "professional grade chassis" My chassis is ok, but, Mike's work is superior. I am using the other RCM components w/this set up as well.

Finally what i have been waiting for, what drive shafts did you use? I personally think that mike should start making his chassis for the crt.5 in that lenght. Nice car BTW

Hi,
looks like a 10th cscale buggy. How can you handle the longer wheelbase and is the handling better than before?

It actually is 1.25" shorter than my mbx-5 1/8 scale! I haven't had a chance yet to take it out for it's maiden voyage. I still need to do a couple of things first.

Nice! The only thing about a custom chassis that makes me hesitate to run it, is if you break/bend it, you have to re-create it again. Much easier to simply buy one.

So true....the one in the pic. is my 3rd. attempt. I am still not totally satisfied w/it, especially after having Mike's kit on my daughter's truck. I used my daughter's crt.5 chassis as a template. Besides, I enjoyed making it. The hardest part way stretching it and making sure everything lined up just right. If you look close in one of the pics. you can see that the center diff/motor is a tad off center....not enough to worry about yet...Next week will be it's maiden voyage!

Is it 3/8" longer than the V3 or the V2? My v3 chassis(black annodized) is 1/4" longer than the v2(non-anodized silver chassis), which is likely what is on your daughter's truck. It definately looks wider. :)
Cool truck, by the way. :)

Thanks Mike for the input! ...It is 1 3/8" longer than you v2 chassis Mike and wider...not sure on the exact width. I am considering narrowing it a tad to save weight. The whole point of this was just to see how your v2 chassis handled compared to a larger one...just for my own curiosity, and it gave me something e-xtra to do at work!
The only thing I wanted to do was roll the chassis edges for looks and added strength...the chassis was a tad long to fit in the bender

Thanks Travis! I certainly did! Honestly, I just wanted something to try...and so a new chassis, 3 versions later, was born! I had never made one before...I said to my self, how hard could it be...boy, was I wrong about the length of time it took to get it right. I am still not 100% satisfied.
When the snow clears , I will test it out and see how it handles compared to my daughter's w/Mike's v2 chassis.
