im guesing suicideneil is the man over here he seems to normally the answers
(sorry if im wrong for using your name in my post neil hope you dont mind)
We have started including the TransCap modules on most of our brushless controllers and advise using them as aftermarket power caps on other mfgs' controllers. They are huge, but better safe than sorry...
Here are the transcaps, etc. we offer---for 4s-6s lipo, the #5685 is recommended. You can always use the next higher module than the # of lipos used:
caps in parallel are addative and hence will beef up overall capcitance and ESC protection. The transorb module has a whole bunch of other electronic gizmo's in at that I don't know what it adds or how it would interact with a CC esc.
Perhaps Novak2 can get some detail from the techs.
The Novak capacitor modules have more than just a power capacitor, we have also included on this module two Transient Suppressors and three High Frequency Decoupling Capacitors.
The two Transient Suppressors act like a voltage clamp and prevent high voltage spikes from damaging the ESC, and the three High-Frequency Decoupling Capacitors filter out radio interference noise.

and the real big asset is it seems this product helps with the current ripple that was discussed in other threads i.e. flame throwing esc's
Our speed controls have featured external power caps for years. If a cap blows out, it is much easier to replace the external module than sending the esc back to the factory for service. Novak (also) does not warranty damage when the customer solders directly on the internal PCBs.
That's why we design escs so that almost everything can be user plugged-in, replaced or upgraded. Shipping and handling costs have sky-rocketed----so that the fewer items that have to be returned to the factory, the better.
Since we prepared this page, we have added 3 additional modules to our product line. Any other questions, let me know and I will ask the Engineers.
ok thanks for the info guys
am i right in saying that i can wire the extra cap to the input power cables (+ and -)
on my esc just like i hace my external ubec is wired
i am thinking of adding caps to my mamba max esc.
i was thinking of using these capcitors: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Electrolytic-C...1%7C240%3A1318
i will be running it in my eight B on 4s lipos and a 2000kv motor but how many should i add and how to i add them?
