new 9920s - 12.15.2006, 06:46 PM

I got my controllers back. I was noticing they look different.
I think the esc has bigger heatsink on them now.
I thought I would post them. Has any one else notice this.
The heat sinks are sliver now.
Does anyone know if they going to stay like this.

Peace!

That's cool, it does need a little more cooling. Are the caps bigger? They look higher up, mine are horizontal to the circuit boards.

Hmm, maybe they are bigger since the heatsink is alot bigger. Looks good to me.

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

I just got one of the 12020's from the holliday special. I got it and thought that the heat sink looked rather large compared to the 9920's I have had. I just though it was the 12020 was bigger than the 9920, but it could be they just upgraded the design for all of this eseries controller.

Wonder if there were any other updates???

Maybe Monster Mike can shed some light on this?????

EDIT: I also tought the old heatsinks were black, not silver like these new ones.

I can't decide if its more fun

I like the bigger heatsink, but personally, I think the 12020 is just to large...I would choose the 9920...

too large for what?

Its like 1/8" thicker than the 9920.... Other than that its the same size.

Personally, I'm glad to see the heatsinks are getting bigger. However, I'd rather all ESCs come with a flat heatspreader so the user can decide which heatsink (and how large) they want to use. In a ST or buggy, you want small so it will fit. In a MT, there is more room so you can use a larger HS for cooler running.

Jhautz, I'm just saying, I think the 12020 is a little to tall...

Where would you put it that 1/8 taller would matter? Just curious.

Damn that things bulky! Hmm im really tempted to get the 12020 , as i like the extra re-assurance of it running cool. Ah heck, for 225 its a steal! :)

Cool! I wish that had put the bigger heatsink on the 36120 to. :(
I wonder about the new 7020s.

Peace!
