Problem with my new NEU lipos - 04.17.2009, 06:55 PM

I received two NEU 4S1P 3900 mah 25C/50C lipo packs today and after putting some EC3 connectors like I did for my other lipos, I tried to charge them with my CellPro 10S charger and I get an error message saying ''reverse polarity''. My connectors are installed correctly, positive and negative where they should be. There's something I'm missing and I don't know what. I emailed NEU about it and am waiting for a reply so I thought of asking the experts here. Can it be possible that the red positive and black negative wires of the lipos are soldered to the wrong tabs underneath the heat shrink? I don't want to mess with it until I'm sure.

Here's one of the EC3 connectors I installed

And here is the balance tap I use.

What am I doing wrong?

You can check the polarity by using a multimeter. Stick the multimeter's red probe into the positive terminal of your battery and the black probe into the battery's negative terminal. If the reading you get is a - voltage, then the battery wires are reversed. It should give you a positve voltage readout if the battery is wired correctly.

Sounds like you may have the wrong balance adapter if the polarity on your main connector is correct.

your balance plug from the lipo should have its red wire towards the outside of the balance board.

The way you soldered the connector will have no effect on the polarity of the balance tab. Make sure you are connecting is properly &/or the Neu balance pattern (kokam style) is compatible with your balancer.

I checked with a multimeter and the voltage is fine at positive 14.86 volts for both packs. I also checked the positive and negative terminals of the balance tabs of the packs and they also shows a positive voltage. So it's probably the balance tabs I use to plug to the charger. I included a pic of the two packs plugged to my charger, I tried to make it as clear as possible.
So if I need new tabs, which one do I get? I searched a bit and I'm a little lost with all the tabs available. Not sure which one to get. Anyone can provide a link please?

Thanks

Have you tried to charge one at a time?

Have you tried hooking up the packs without the balancer wires attached?

I have tried hooking up only one pack at a time, tried it for both packs and the same error message appears. When I try to charge without the balance plug this message appears ''channel on (or two) has no pack''. It doesn't seem to charge without the balance plug. I charged a couple Zippys this morning with no problems.

My problem was indeed that I had the wrong balance tabs, I have two of the right ones on order. I thought of letting everyone know so that no one looses sleep over this
Thanks for the help.
