Re-introducing myself -
04.15.2009, 05:03 PM
Hello again everyone, not sure how many of you remember me :) !
Anyway, I left R/C when I sold the Supermaxx, and i'm looking to get back in. Basically I'm looking for something as quick as the old maxx (9XL) but i'd like the speedo and motor be smoother and more user-friendly than the 9XL/9920 combo I had.
In short: I want a Brushless Edition E-REVO. What is the the standard MMM system in it like? (Keep in mind I raced the Supermaxx on 18 cells). How are these trucks as standard for bashing, as I do not want to spend the amount of money I did on the E-Maxx to be able to use it for any length of time? Could I basically take one of these out of the box, in to a quarry, have some high speed blasts and jump it about and go home with it in one bit, without any upgrades?
Anyway, glad to be back :) .

Hey Darren...
I would say that you may be better off getting a savage flux. It will handle the abuse of hard bashing better than an erevo will. But the erevo will do better on the track... So it is all about what you want to do with the truck.
The savage has better diffs, a full metal geared tranny, steel driveshafts and hubs, and a stronger chassis.
The erevo has better suspnsion and a lower weight, plus the battery trays place that weight lower so the overall cg is lower.
For bashing I would go with the savage. I had 2 erevos and sold them, as my lst and savages are stronger. I hate buying upgrade parts just to fix weakness. I run all of my trucks as stock as possible, one or two hopus are ok, but I am not into dumping money into the drivetrain if it is not strong enough. Unless you keep the erevo very light it will kill the diffs.

I know that the savage is a really durable truck, mea nd my dad both had one a few years ago, this was back when they still made the Savage 21. They were really strong and endured endless abuse. However, they were an absolute nightmare to work on due to the TVP's. My RB323 Revo took quite a bit of abuse aswell, but I never put it through nearly as much as the savage because I didnt own it very long.
The only two things that worry me about the savage are:
Runtimes compared to the Revo, when you consider its weight.
Its got a stupid price tag here, it's £615 ish, which is the same as buying two standard E-Revo's, a chinese takeaway for dinner, and a DVD to watch while I eat it.

if your use to nimh's you'll be happy with the runtime on either truck. the cost is a moot point when you consider you will need to upgrade the revo. can I get some of that chinese take away?

The BL E-revo is going to run you the same $, if not a little more (they still make two versions, one BL and one with Titans).
My runtime with my Flux is about the same as my converted Revo (MMM/1515 2.5D). The difference in gearing seems to make up the difference in weight.
Linc is correct in the Flux is going to require far fewer replacement parts. I've done things with mine already that would have destroyed my Revo.
Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

Also, the newer versions of the Savages, Flux included are a lot easier to work on thanks to the easy access bulks and trans cases.
